Kaiyan Celebrates the Reopening of Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital's International Medical Center

Pallas Qiu, COO of Kaiyan Global Health, tours the renovated International Medical Center during the reopening event

Kaiyan Global Health was pleased to join Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital in celebrating the reopening of its renovated International Medical Center. Pallas Qiu, Kaiyan's Chief Operating Officer, attended the ceremony and toured the renewed facilities. We also sent a floral arrangement to extend our congratulations to the hospital team.

As one of Kaiyan's hospital partners in Shanghai, Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital is part of the network we work with to help patients and families explore appropriate care across borders.

Renewed facilities for international patients

Located on the 18th and 19th floors of the hospital's Healthcare Building, the renovated center combines dedicated outpatient services with inpatient accommodation.

The outpatient department features 18 private consultation rooms, while the inpatient department offers 23 beds across single rooms and suites. The updated spaces provide greater privacy and room for accompanying family members—practical considerations for patients receiving care away from home.

The center is also strengthening multilingual support and streamlining the patient journey to serve patients from different countries and regions.

Specialist expertise and international coordination

The center draws on the hospital's strengths in orthopedics, endocrinology and metabolism, otolaryngology–head and neck surgery, and ultrasound medicine. Collaboration across specialties supports the assessment of patients whose needs may involve more than one department.

The center also facilitates cross-border teleconsultations, allowing patients and medical teams to communicate across healthcare systems. It is working to expand direct billing arrangements with overseas insurers. Eligibility and coverage depend on the insurer, policy and services involved and should be confirmed before care.

How Kaiyan supports the journey

For a family considering medical care abroad, a hospital's capabilities are only part of the decision. They also need to know which specialist is appropriate, what records are required, how appointments and costs will be coordinated, and what happens after they return home.

Kaiyan helps organize existing medical records, coordinate appointments with relevant specialists, arrange language support, and clarify the practical steps before travel. During the visit, our team assists with coordination across the agreed services. Afterward, we help organize reports and the transfer of medical information to support follow-up with the patient's local care team.

Clinical assessments and treatment decisions remain with the hospital's medical professionals. Kaiyan coordinates the arrangements around that care, helping patients and families understand the process and prepare for each stage.

Congratulations to Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital on this milestone. We look forward to continuing our collaboration and supporting patients exploring care in Shanghai.
